What is Brick Frenzy?
Brick Frenzy is a free browser brick breaker built around on-screen buttons: you steer a small paddle with a left arrow and a right arrow, press a big green button to launch the ball, and clear a handful of blue bricks to finish each of nine numbered levels. It is a compact, friendly game designed to be played with a thumb on a phone held upright.
The title screen shows the name over a pastel sky, with an oversized ball resting on an oversized paddle. One tap takes you to the level menu, which is a grid of large numerals from 1 to 9 â blue for the first three, yellow-green for the middle three, red for the last three â with three small paddle icons lined up underneath.
Those icons are your lives, and Brick Frenzy is strict about them. When we let the ball drop on level 1, the game went straight back to the level menu and one of the three paddles had gone. There is no lives counter inside a level, so it is worth remembering how many you had when you went in.
The first level is tiny: six blue bricks in two rows of three, high above a paddle with green caps on its ends. Brick Frenzy was added to the GamePix catalogue in January 2025 and is built for a 600Ã800 portrait screen. Levels are short, the ball is slow enough to follow, and the whole thing has the easy-going feel of a game made to be finished.
How to play Brick Frenzy
- 01
Tap through the title
Click or tap the title screen to reach the level menu. Level 1 is the dark blue numeral in the top-left corner of the grid.
- 02
Pick a level
Choose a numeral to start that level. The three paddle icons under the grid show how many lives you have before you go in.
- 03
Position the paddle
Before launching, use the left and right arrow buttons to slide the paddle to where you want the ball to start. The ball rides on top of it.
- 04
Press the green button
The large green button between the arrows launches the ball. It disappears once the ball is in play, leaving just the two arrows.
- 05
Keep the ball up
Move the paddle under the ball with the arrows each time it comes down. Every blue brick it touches is removed.
- 06
Clear the bricks
Remove all the bricks to finish the level. If the ball gets past the paddle, you return to the level menu with one paddle icon fewer.
Controls
Brick Frenzy puts its controls on the screen. A round left-arrow button and a round right-arrow button sit in the bottom corners and move the paddle; the wide green button between them launches the ball. On a phone or tablet, tap and hold the arrows. On desktop you can click them, and in our test the Left and Right arrow keys on the keyboard moved the paddle as well. Levels are chosen by tapping a numeral on the menu.
Objective
Clear every brick in a level without losing the ball, and work through the nine levels on the menu. You have three lives, shown as paddle icons below the level grid, and each lost ball costs one. Because a lost ball also sends you back to the menu, Brick Frenzy rewards patience: a level has to be cleared in one unbroken go.
Game modes & features
The game has a nine-level menu with the levels drawn in three colour bands of three, and a lives display of three paddle icons. Level 1 has six blue bricks, each removed by a single hit. The ball waits on the paddle until you press the green launch button, so you choose where every level begins. The catalogue listing says later levels add red bricks that release power-ups; we played level 1 only.
Why play Brick Frenzy?
Play it if you want a brick breaker that fits a phone properly. Dragging a paddle with a finger often means covering the ball with your hand; the arrow buttons in Brick Frenzy keep your thumbs at the bottom of the screen and the playfield clear. Nine short levels and a gentle pace make it a good first brick breaker, and an easy one to complete in a sitting.
Brick Frenzy tips
Line up before you launch
The ball does not move until you press the green button. Slide the paddle under the column of bricks you want to hit first, then launch.
Hold the arrow, do not jab it
Holding an arrow button keeps the paddle moving. Quick jabs cover less ground and make it easy to arrive late.
Check your lives on the menu
The three paddle icons under the level grid are the only place your lives are shown. Glance at them before starting a level.
Move early
The paddle is narrow. Start heading towards the ball as soon as it turns downwards, not when it is already low.
Launch from off-centre
Starting the ball from one side of the screen sends it into the outer column of bricks first. With only three columns, clearing an outer one opens a path to the space above the rest.
Use taps for the final adjustment
Hold the arrow to cross the screen, then release and tap to settle under the ball. The combination is quicker and more accurate than either alone.
Keep the ball on one side
A ball that stays on one half of the screen needs less paddle travel. If a return sends it back up the same side, you have less ground to cover for the next one.
Protect the last life
With one paddle icon left, replay an early level you know you can clear instead of attempting a new one cold. Confidence with the controls matters more than progress at that point.
What makes Brick Frenzy special
Brick Frenzy is designed around its controls, and it shows. The three buttons along the bottom are big, clearly drawn and out of the way of the action, and being able to position the paddle before launching gives each level a small moment of planning that most brick breakers skip.
The scale is modest and well judged. Six bricks on the first level, nine levels in total and three lives to get through them: there is nothing here to grind, and nothing that needs a tutorial. The soft pastel artwork and the chunky numerals on the menu give it a toy-like look that suits the size of the game.
On this site it is the gentlest of the paddle games. The classic Brick Breaker on our home page and Block Breaker are larger and faster, Brick Breaker Blitz is the bare-bones keyboard-free version for a mouse, and Brick Breaker Retro wraps the same loop in a longer level ladder. Brick Frenzy is the one to choose for a phone and a few spare minutes.

Brick Frenzy FAQ
QHow many levels does Brick Frenzy have?
Nine. The level menu is a three-by-three grid of numerals from 1 to 9, coloured blue for levels 1 to 3, yellow-green for 4 to 6 and red for 7 to 9. Level 1 is drawn darker than the others when you first open the game.
QHow many lives do you get in Brick Frenzy?
Three. They appear as three paddle icons beneath the level grid. When we lost the ball on level 1, the game returned to the menu and showed two icons instead of three. There is no lives display inside a level.
QHow do you control the paddle in Brick Frenzy?
With the round arrow buttons in the bottom corners of the screen: left to move left, right to move right. The Left and Right arrow keys on a keyboard also moved the paddle in our test. The green button between them launches the ball.
QWhat does the green button do in Brick Frenzy?
It launches the ball. At the start of a level the ball sits on the paddle and nothing moves until you press the green button, so you can slide the paddle into position first. The button vanishes once the ball is in play.
QHow do you beat level 1 of Brick Frenzy?
Level 1 has six blue bricks in two rows of three, and each takes one hit. Launch from under an outer column, keep the paddle under the ball with the arrows, and let the ball work behind the bricks once a column is gone.
QIs Brick Frenzy like the original Breakout?
In outline, yes. Atari released Breakout in 1976 with a paddle, a ball, rows of bricks and three turns. Brick Frenzy keeps the three lives and the bricks but has far smaller walls, a launch button and on-screen arrows in place of the arcade dial.
QCan you play Brick Frenzy on a phone?
Yes, it is made for one. The game is a 600Ã800 portrait layout and every control is an on-screen button along the bottom edge, within reach of your thumbs. It also works on desktop with mouse clicks or the arrow keys.
QWhat games are similar to Brick Frenzy?
Brick Breaker Retro offers a longer ladder of levels with a paddle, and Simply Breakout is another portrait paddle game. Brick Breaker Blitz is the landscape mouse-controlled version, and the classic Brick Breaker on our home page is the fullest of the group.
Ready to play Brick Frenzy?
Slide the paddle into place, press the green button, and see whether three lives will carry you through all nine levels of Brick Frenzy.
